RECYCLING
All decommissioning and sorting of recovered materials is done in Hawke's Bay as I personally have reservations and serious concerns about the exporting of computers to other countries. Any recovered materials sent overseas for recovery/recycling via RCN are all approved basal Convention compliant companies.
Over the years the recycling division of the company has made some wonderful and ingenious contacts. I send motherboards, PSU boards, add on cards, Keyboard, mice, Plastics plus much more to RCN recycling division in Auckland for recycling who recovers the precious metals on the boards.
This is an important part of the recycling of a computer as metals such as gold, nickel and copper are rated as precious metals and in time will not be freely available as natural resources are stripped. We are slowly depleting the world's resources (we are all familiar with the crude oil issue) and the mentioned metals are a natural resource. Small motors are sent to away to a hobbyist to make model train turntables, working track junctions and the support of local schools Trash to Fashion projects have been a highlight for me.
I can now offer a 99% reclaim of E-Waste from your everyday Cell Phone and Pc to your old tube TV and much more.
REFURBISHING
This is where my interests become active. I relish the challenge of taking an unwanted computer from someone's shed or closet and restoring it to its former glory. There are many people out there who have a need and a desire to learn how to use a computer but financial and emotional constraints restrain them from taking action.
Schools are another outlet for refurbished computers due to budget constraints. I can offer computers at a nominal fee which covers the refurbishing of the unit. Supplying schools has been a highlight for me as it offers the school principal and teachers the opportunity to encourage learning on a uniform level. Some primary schools have electronic whiteboards in some of the classrooms - the refurbished computers allowed the school to introduce the new age learning technique in all their classrooms. Assisting schools to teach their students through their preferred method has bought me immense pleasure.
SECURE DATA DESTRUCTION
We provide a range of data destruction services from simple hard disk formatting to military spec formatting & physical destruction of the hard drive. We also provide a service for destruction of any tapes or media through RCN's secure facility.
Our technicians utilise proprietary data scrubbing software to overwrite data up to seven times with disk re-formatting for completeness. In addition, idlecomputa clients can specify the removal and physical destruction of the original hard disk fees do apply.
SALES
Sales are broken up into four areas From Recycling, Refurbishing & Remarketing, Secure Data Destruction, and New Systems this is mainly to make the account side of sales a little easier to man with limited time.
